The ladies of Rae’s family were tailgating with us Saturday before the game. Her mom Kim, sister Brandi, and Brandi’s lil girl Halleigh. We had a blast! We went down to try and see Mike but because it was his first introduction to Tiger Stadium that had already loaded him up to make his incredible trek down the hill and into the stadium with the band. We got stopped by what appeared to be a college student but was a reporter for the Times Picayune down in New Orleans. He had a sweet little Olympus recording gizmo and we now have a lil stint in the Times Picayune!
Class of 2001 alumnus and Baton Rouge resident Conner Byrd chose the LSU-Florida game as his only game to attend this season. Lucky for Byrd, he said, he would get the chance to catch a glimpse of the tiger.
“I was sad that Mike V had died, but for the longest time I had only remembered Mike V kind of pacing,” Byrd said. “And now Mike VI — he’s active. He’s crazy. He’s just a great mascot because he’s young. I’m totally excited.”
Lafayette resident Kim Ryan hadn’t been to an LSU game in 25 years before Saturday.
“I’m glad they have a new (tiger),” she said. “I don’t get to come here often; I came to go tailgating.”
So yeah, only a few lil glitches here but it was loud and crazy down there. I actually graduated in 2002 but Rae and I were debating this in front of him
This hopefully won’t be our only game of the season but my first since 2004
But hey it’s cool. The full article is actually pretty cool and you can find it here .
Oooh…you’re famous!
No pictures though?…
Too bad UK is going to stomp you.
You can’t be serious can you? However, I empathize for an avid fans deliriousness that his team will come out triumphant over the odds
Just kidding Jay. In all seriousness I’m looking forward it. I hope it’ll be a great game. We are in your neck of the woods and not in Death Valley.
