I work with 2 small town churches

PC Windows XP Pro on both

Media Shout 3.5x on both; Very easy to use and get up to speed;

Latest versions do a better job motion background, music queues (CD, DVD, video clips) and powerpoint, word imports work great; excellent presentation capabilities and wide range of queue types; very affordable; also can use live video feeds and quad video output control

Leave little room for shame as Paul points out..." no one is righteous... not even one." ( that includes Master Po )God speaks to us through one another as far as we exercise a discerning ear.

I like our discussions and we learn from one another. All we need is love... all we need is love... all we need is love, love... love is all we need... that could be a song.

I hate you Jimbo. I'm ashamed of my arrogance and now of my lack of faith :)
From now on you are my Master Po! You've been the best friend since we joined River and an incredible Christian example.
Just go easy on me at group on Wednesday! Hahaha.

Ah Jimbo, if it were that simple. I have asked this question here (and other forums) out of curiosity to see what others use. I figured this would again give me a good indication of my assumptions of "right vs. wrong" thinking. It appears my data supports my assumptions, (that will be conclusive when I collect it all tomorrow.) Sure, there's not a "right vs. wrong" clear cut answer. You could have driven to Florida in a 1985 Ford Econoline Van with 200k miles on it. You would have gotten there fine. You would have made it back fine. You would have paid an arm and a leg for gas. The AC might have gone out on you a few times? You might have had to even turn off the AC going up a hill. But you would have gotten there and for a majority of the time worked just great. If you were in a position and needed to buy a new vehicle though would you again purchase a 1985 Ford Econoline here in 2008? Would you even purchase such a large and robust vehicle with all the advances in the car industry? If in fact size was no longer the driving force and it was just you and the Mrs. would you not perhaps see that there would be a more suitable option that would most appropriately suit your needs?
:)
I think you'd find there would be a different mode of transportation needed. You just have to convince your backseat drivers to change vehicles! HAHAHA.

My local church is your local church so I don't have anything to contribute on the minutia of what hardware/software we run at the sanctuary FOH.

But... I'm just back from vacationland including much prayer and meditation and am checking up on all my favorite blogs and can't let this one go by without a comment...

I don't view worship things such as these as "right vs wrong..." Mac vs PC, software power vs simplicity, media intensity vs message a natural.

Isn't it possible that there is not a simple "right" answer to how a heart felt love of God worship service should look or sound. Granted, there is probably a simple wrong; however, I do not think wrong shows up in the PC model or software package at the FOH.

Go with what God has planned for your setting. If a Mac's what you should have, you'll have one. If a Dell is plugged in and running media shout, I think Peter or Paul would be blown away by black & white images with scripture projected before a small group of believers in worship. What would Paul say about "white noise" disputes in Romans?

PC

Media Shout

3 - This is intentional like Mudppy's talking about. I'd actually like to take us down to a like a 2.3 or so and just do simple really well instead of complex really poorly.

1. Apples in all offices except secretaries. Can't get her to switch. Unfortunately, we're on PC in the auditorium because of our presentation software.

2. Presentation software is Sunday Plus. It pretty much stinks, but the budget does not exist to switch to anything else.

3. I'd say we're a solid 3 on your scale. Your description fits us pretty closely. Not really where I want to be, but there it is.
