Explanation needed

I’m going to seem racist or ignorant or awful or all of the above but I can’t figure this out. See in our neighborhood there’s the competitiveness in the weirdest way and it just so happens to be that every instance is with an Asian family. So maybe someone can clue me in on what’s going on.

The 1st 2 situations are these 2 families that live like 5 blocks from one another and compete to see who can have the biggest Mary shrines in their yards. It’s the wildest thing. It was first a statue on a lil pedestal. Then there were the lights. Then the spot lights. Then Mary’s holding tiny infant 8 lb Jesus. Then Jesus had a crown. Then Mary had a crown. Now its a full blown night spotlight ordeal. The wildest thing was that as one would get something new, a week later the other had the same thing.

Now just down the street from us another family constructed a Jesus statue. He doesn’t have any competition yet but it started off meek and then a row of lights, crown, and now…lighted crown. Wow.

Jesus in lights

I’m just startled every time I drive by these houses.

Yeah Connor – you should put three gigantic crosses in your front yard, then you’d really be competing, just in a less Roman Catholic way. How about something like this:

Hey man, I didn’t know you lived in Rome… thought you lived in America some place.

    Asian families?

Stauary depictions of religious icons are HUGE in Asian culture (both literally and figuratively). Which ever family had the biggest display of piousness and religious devotion was typically the most prominant.

Perhaps your neighbors are competing in their ancient ways with their current faith in it’s place?

And, it could be worse. They could be Pastafarians and have giant Flying Spaghetti Monsters in their frotn yards. ~.^
