Coldplay’s back with Viva la Vida!

It’s been 3 years since my last Coldplay fix with X&Y and I welcome the onslaught of commercials from Apple, magazine articles, free song release, free concert news and more! Supposedly, Viva La Vida the new release dropping June 17th, will be a bit of a change up for the boys from across the pond. This time around they’ve recruited Brian Eno as their producer which supposedly has lent a soaring layered texture to La Vida that breathes fresh life into the project. Well if the CD falls anywhere between the two releases: Violet Hill and Viva La Vida then I am SOLD! The 2 releases couldn’t be more different and I am probably too excited for this new CD!

You can catch Violet Hill‘s video here:

Violet Hill is Coldplay’s nod to the Beatles indicative of it’s rhythmic march and that it’s also a street found near Abbey Road. Keeping with nods to landmark bands, “42” throws back to U2’s “40” and the Smashing Pumpkins “1979.” In last week’s Entertainment Weekly, Chris tossed out what I find to be a comical but perhaps appropriate quote:

I don’t think you can try to be the best band in the world without having a song that’s a number.

I love that 🙂

In case you’ve missed it, a snippet of Viva La Vida here:

Budding guitar heroes will get their hands full with Violet Hill as it will be the first Coldplay appearance on the Guitar Hero franchise. I hear it will be released as a downloadable option which I assume means it’ll be available for the xBox version.

If you haven’t pre-ordered this, why not!?! I can’t wait!

It is about stinkin time that Coldplay put out a new album. Those people make you wait FOREVER! I’m glad there’s just two more weeks to go. 🙂

Someone get it out of the way and just quote 40 Year Old Virgin already.

Coldplay spends a while on their albums, and they fail to disappoint.

    HAHA ANDY! Too funny 🙂
You know it’s interesting because the last quote I saw was after the tour for X&Y and it was something from Chris Martin saying something like, “We’re sick and tired of hearing ourselves so much like you are so we’re going to disappear for while.” I didn’t even know a new CD was projected to come out until the free release of Violet Hill! That was an awesome surprise!

We’ll call it plagiarizing when all is said and done. Oh and it’s great all right 🙂 Hahaha.
