The Office Business Ethics Recapped

WOW. Only 2 weeks in and I’m late on my Friday Office recap! Sorry about that gang. Well, we have Business Ethics taking us more into the awkward side of the Office and less into the funny side. It’s the great thing about this show that I absolutely love so much! You truly never know what you’re going to get!

Recap:

Tonight we have our first Michael/Holly conflict. It’s really beautiful at the heart of it. Michael’s view of the workplace as a ‘family.’ A place where you call ‘home.’ A place that’s sticky sometimes but you press on because they’re your relatives and that’s what families do! Then there’s Holly’s view of the workplace as a place that you come to work! A place that you clock in. A place where unethical behavior is not tolerated when it’s icky and sticky! It’s truly a beautiful dynamic! The resolution is the only thing more depressingly hilarious. It’s episodes like this that make me glad I traded in my Human Resources hat for a hat that deals with ministry and students and Jesus work 🙂

We have a funny but weak prank on Dwight here by Jim. I miss Jim’s pranks. However the exchange with Andy over Battlestar Galactica was truly a highlight! Dwight’s reaction couldn’t have been more perfect! It’s scenes like that which make me ponder on the genius comedic timing/improv of those 3 or the genius scripting and directing of the crew. Either way it was magically hilarious!

Thoughts and Quotes:

Michael tackling Jim!!

Kevin’s face while Holly and Michael are dancing!! HAHA. Did you catch it?

You should be Robin Williams and M. Night Shyamalan, in one: Robin Shyamalan! – Michael

When I discovered youTube, I didn’t work for about 5 days! – Michael

You are a thief of joy! – Michael

Dwight’s Grinch like grin to the camera after his confessing to not being ‘completely ethical.’ Haha!

Not a whole lot to recap here on the funny scale.

But I ask you: Where do you fall in line? Is your office a family or a work place? Do you wish it were the other way around? Tough stuff happening here and tough thoughts.

Buddy where did you fall in line?

Dwight: Trick question. The bread is poisoned.

My favorite line of the night.

Holly: Can anyone think of over-the-line time wasters?
    Stanley: This meeting.
Michael: (You can’t set ’em up like that.)

Meredith: Maybe it’s a girl thing…..but after we did it and he gave me those coupons….I just felt so good about myself.

ps – Can you think of a scene in which Kevin had a line that wasn’t funny? I wish Holly still thought he was slow.
