Worship City is where I blog about what’s happening in my life. Since our worship is what our lives are pointing towards with what we say, do, spend money on, I hoped that in doing so I can truly see what’s valuable to me.

My name’s Conner Byrd. I live in Baton Rouge, LA with my wife Rae. We’ve been together since 1997 and married since 2002. We have two incredible kids: Chloe’s 3 going on 13 and Gavin’s 8 months. We’ve got a black lab named Molly Moose, 2 white cats Sebastian and Keelo, and 2 fish without names.

I work for River Community Church and am the full time Youth Director. I say full time because, even a church, people ask me: so this is cool but what do you do? It’s hilarious and sad! HA. Yes, it takes 40+ hours a week to pull off Sunday people 🙂

Random “about me’s”

LOVES Apple, my iPhone, playing guitar, playing in a band, public speaking, Starbucks, Iced Venti Caramel Macchiatos, movies, Entertainment Weekly, Klipsch home audio, big sofas, laceless Chuck Taylors, Flip Flops, Louisiana’s 2 seasons, Oreos, Irish Whiskey, Kentucky Bourbon, TiVo, LSU Football, Nissan Automobiles, arcade games, pinball machines, and comfortable blue jeans.

DISLIKES Tequila, pickles, golf, lint in my belly button, and carnies.

I think life is found in my daughter’s laugh, my son’s jelly belly, my wife’s smile, my Mom’s brownies, my Dad’s rambling life lessons, my friend’s hugs, my family’s dinners, my church’s outreach, my student’s eyes, authentic music, the sunset, the moon as a sliver looking like a smile, my wife’s hand in mine, and in that unexplainable knowledge of the presence of Jesus in my life.

I get plenty of questions regarding my incredible banners and those are the work of the creative machine over at CEC Worship, Joel Klampert. He’s one of the first bloggers I really connected with here and has been a tremendous asset to this blogging community!

Disclaimer: The thoughts, rambling, and madness found in this blog is in no reflection of River Community Church. They are all the product of the voices in my head 🙂

3rd person Conner misspelled “worship”. unless you like being called a “woship” pastor. haha!

and his mother’s brownies! HELLO! fine! no more brownies for you!

“Conner is a funny, witty, and incredibly handsome young man who serves River Community Church as their Woship Pastor and Youth Director. He enjoys his Mother’s brownies, playing guitar, and long walks on the beach”.

I totally didn’t even pick up on the snafu even with you putting it in “quotes.” I read your version, read mine again, read your “quotes,” read mine again, read your “quotes” AND then got it!

Long night! Hope no one is waiting in my pantry!

  4. February 13, 2007 at 9:12 pm

Yep, PC has it’s very own Marti Gras … however, on a lameness scale from one to 10 it is an 11. So, where are you located?

    Hey Conner,

Sorry to post a long one here .. didn’t see a way to contact you directly, but I hope this makes it to ya.

My name is Fred McKinnon, I’m a Worship Leader, Pianist, Producer, and yes … a blogger! (see http://www.fredmckinnon.com) I’d love for you to come checkout my blog sometime, learn more about me, etc. I also have the Highest Praise Worship Podcast (http://www.highestpraise.com/podcast) and the Worship Interludes Podcast (www.worshipinterludes.com)

Anyway, if you have the time, I need help if possible … I’m boldy going and approaching some great leaders/bloggers, etc., about this:

I’ve launched a site called “The Worship Community” at:
    http://www.theworshipcommunity.com/forums/index.php?referrerid=1

It’s a forums site for discussion of worship, worship leadership, worship music, Technologies for Worship, etc. I’m hoping to get a huge swell of new users in the community through the network/subculture of worship/pastoral leadership bloggers, music lovers, and fellow Christians.

We’re doing a full-blown referral contest right now – for those people who come and Register (free) … you get a special “/?referrerid= …” URL. We’re running the contest to get people to come … a “qualified referral” is one who has posted 5+ threads or replies by June 30. The prizes are:

    1st: $50 iTunes Gift Cert
    2nd: $30 iTunes Gift Cert
    3rd: $20 iTunes Gift Cert

I’m paying that out of pocket, and will be investing in some email marketing blasts to Worship Musician, Worship leader, and ChristianMusic magazine subscribers as well.

Would love for you to check it out, and if you feel it’s worthy of mention, blog it … and of course, hope you’ll join and introduce yourself – use your referral URL and you could win!

    Thanks again!

My name is Jeff and I have created GODSurfer.com. I am a huge Internet fan, I am a programmer by trade and I love the Internet. The mission of GODSurfer.com is to bring Christian related Articles, Blogs and Sites to everyone that is interested in Christianity. You may ask, what is Christan related Articles, Blogs and Sites? Well that is a good question. This site is a tool to spread the good word of Jesus Christ to the world. This includes all faiths of Christianity (Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran, and Christian Non-Denominational). Although GODSurfer.com is tolerant of
other religions and point of views. The main point of GODSurfer.com is to spread the word of GOD to everyone who comes across this site.

The best thing about this site is that it is you, the user of GODSurfer.com that will post the URL’s of the articles, blogs and sites to GODSurfer.com so everyone can view what you are viewing. GODSurfer.com is very closely modeled after social networking sites such as: digg and reddit. Where the users can vote on stories that are interesting. The more votes the stories get, the longer it stays visible on the front page. That is how it works here at GODSurfer as well! (coming soon) Stories that are non-Christian, negative or stories that have very little value to the mission of this site will be buried and removed from the site.

What I would like to do is trade links with you. My information is as follows:

GODSurfer – Bringing God to your online life!

E-mail me back with your text link and I will be sure to add it.

Thanks and have a great day!

any chance I saw you over at ATF in Baker? I was at the Compassion table (the short one in the blue shirt).

Found your blog via your comment on “Sponsorship in Six Words”…clicked on your name (which led to your blog).

Always neat to meet up with folks who lurk around Compassion’s blog who live in the same area! 🙂
