I’m not a mac hater, but I definitely won’t be buying one for a while if ever. It is utterly jaw dropping though in every way!
This is my first ever blog posting and I feel compelled to visit and leave my mark – Fire Hydrant # 1 – I’m not a Mac hater either, but I’m concerned all this technology is off target. I saw an article on MSN last month that asked the question, ” is it really necessary for people to have skills in ‘long reading?” Elaborated… with communications tools / tech the way it is, you really don’t need to be able to read / concentrate on anything longer than a few paragraphs. Bullets and sound bites rule the day. This scares me more than a little.
The problem with this thing is that it only has FOUR HOURS MAX of battery life. How can you really use it if it dies after 4 hours? They’ll have to triple that before I’d consider using this Apple version of a PDA.

Yeah the patents thing doesn’t bother me. I mean if you’re used to Apple products then you’re used to it being exclusive. It’s the Mac vs. PC debate that’s raged for years now. Being locked into 1 cell phone company continues the exclusive, limited, elite feeling of their newest product: the iPhone. I don’t know if that was the reasoning or not but that was what I immediately thought of.
My only fear is that the iPod trend will continue with the iPhone. If that’s the case you’ll see a newer, sleaker, more tricked out featured iPhone 2gen in like 9 mos to a year. It’ll probably cost the same but now feature 2x the hard drive and 4x the battery life?!?!?! Apple’s biggest downfall for the poor man like me is that I can only buy 1 of their products and that sets me for a couple of years 🙂 I can’t afford to drop 5 bones on an iPhone to be jealous in 9 mos when the new one comes out. BUT I WANT ONE SO BAD!!! HAHAHAHA
